How to Reset Frigidaire Air Filter Light (70+ Model Numbers)

Published on:

Your refrigerator’s air filter can be both a blessing and a burden – while it keeps your food safe from contaminants and helps to deodorize, it’ll generally need to be replaced every 6 months.

Once you’ve replaced the air filter, you need to reset the filter indicator light so it’ll remind you again the next time it’s due.

How to Reset the Air Filter Light on Your Frigidaire Refrigerator

Press and hold ‘Reset Air Filter’ or ‘Air Filter’ or ‘Set’ on the Air Filter control panel for 3-15 until you see the green light flash.

Where is the Air Filter on Frigidaire Refrigerator?

The air filter is held within a cartridge, usually attached to either the inner wall of the refrigerator or within the door. If you’re struggling to find it, you can refer to your Owner’s Manual.

Where to Buy a Replacement Frigidaire Air Filter?

It’s always best to go for the recommended PureAir brand if you can.

Frigidaire offers a Subscribe & Save plan if you’re prone to forgetting, so you can set it up once and just install it each time it arrives.

How the Frigidaire Refrigerator Air Filter Indicator Works

For most models, the side door control panel will show ‘Order’ when it’s time to order a new air filter, and then change to ‘Replace’ when you need to swap it out.

For some other models, ‘Replace Air Filter’ will change from white to red text, or the Air Filter indicator will change from green to red.

Frigidaire Refrigerator Air Filter Light Won’t Reset – Troubleshooting

If you’ve replaced your Frigidaire fridge air filter and pressed the reset buttons above – but the light is still showing, here are a few things to check before reaching out for technical support.

Check That the Control Panel Lock Isn’t on

If there’s a padlock showing on your Control Panel, it’s likely that your Control or Child Lock is on.

You can toggle this off by pressing and holding the ‘Child Lock’ button for 3-5 seconds until the padlock disappears.

Check That the Air Filter is Sitting Properly in the Housing

If the filter isn’t sitting properly in its housing, the refrigerator won’t recognize that it’s been installed. Double-check that it’s seated firmly and doesn’t wobble, then try resetting the air filter light again.

Check That the Correct Air Filter Has Been Installed

There are multiple different types of air filters available, but only one will fit your fridge.

Double-check that your model number matches the side of the canister, or check it against your owner’s manual. If it’s not a match, you should order and install the correct version.

Reset the Refrigerator

If all else has failed, you can perform a hard reset on the refrigerator by turning it off at the mains power for 30 minutes, then turning it back on.

Be careful only to do this once per day (maximum!)

The Frigidaire refrigerator air filter indicator may have cleared itself, or you can try again with the buttons listed for your model above.

Frigidaire Fridge Air Filter – FAQs

How long do Frigidaire refrigerator air filters last?

Your air filter will usually need to be replaced every 6 months to ensure it continues to trap all airborne contaminants.

What happens if I don’t change the air filter in my refrigerator?

You won’t see anything obvious apart from the red filter light. However, as your filter comes clogged with contaminants, it can increase energy consumption, lower the lifespan of food, and develop an odor.

How do I know what filter my Frigidaire refrigerator needs?

The easiest way is to look out your old one and buy one that’s the same. If you don’t have one to compare, look at your Owner’s Manual for details.
