What is Samsung Power Freeze?

Samsung Power Freeze Explained

How Does Samsung Power Freeze Work?

Power Freeze works by turning the compressor and fan on continuously – rather than as/when required to maintain the temperature.

This means your appliance will use more electricity while Power Freeze is turned on, so use it wisely and turn it off when not needed.

When to Use Samsung Power Freeze

When You Need Ice Quickly

Turn Power Freeze on if you want to stock up on ice for a party or family get-together.

Remember that it will only speed up production, so if you want more ice cubes, you’ll need to regularly empty the ice maker(s) into a storage container.

Samsung Power Freeze Troubleshooting

Power Freeze Won’t Turn on

If you’ve pressed the Power Freeze button, but it won’t go on, the most likely cause is an electrical problem.

Turn your refrigerator off at the mains power for 3-5 minutes, then turn it back on and try again.

Power Freeze Won’t Turn off

If Power Freeze won’t turn off manually, either wait 10 hours for it to turn off automatically or turn your refrigerator off at the mains power for 3-5 minutes, then turn it back on.

My freezer is Seized-Up

Power Freeze turns the compressor and fan on constantly, reducing the internal temperature by as much as 10°C.

This can cause freezer burn and excess ice if used frequently without an adequate defrosting and maintenance schedule.

If you use Power Freeze frequently, try to make sure your freezer is defrosted every month or two. This will prevent the ice from building up too much and causing the freezer to seize.

My Freezer is Only Cold With Power Freeze on

If your freezer only works properly with Power Freeze turned on, it’s likely that either the compressor or fan is not working properly or your freezer isn’t set cold enough.

The easiest to check and fix is the temperature – if this is correct, and around -19 °C (-2 °F), then contact an appliance technician who can diagnose where the problem is and how best to fix it.

FAQs

Does Samsung Power Freeze turn off automatically?

Yes, it’ll turn off automatically after 10 hours.

Does Samsung Power Freeze reduce electricity consumption?

No, much the opposite. Power Freeze turns the compressor and fan on constantly rather than just as needed, so it uses significantly more electricity.

Where is the Power Freeze button on a Samsung refrigerator?

The Power Freeze button is usually in an obvious spot on the control panel.

Why is my Samsung refrigerator seizing up after using Power Freeze?

Power Freeze turns the compressor and fan on constantly, reducing the internal temperature by as much as 10°C.

So, if using this feature regularly, make sure to defrost regularly, which will help keep your refrigerator in tip-top condition.

Why is my Samsung refrigerator overheating with Power Freeze on?

Power Freeze increases the workload of your refrigerator, so if you are using it regularly, it’s even more important than normal to make sure your coils are clean and that the fridge is positioned away from walls with proper ventilation.

If you think the appliance is overheating – turn Power Freeze off.

How long should I leave Power Freeze on?

Only as long as you need; it uses more electricity and makes the components of your refrigerator work harder than they usually would.

If left on too long, it may decrease the lifespan of the appliance.
